
Dr. Elledge | Dr. Duke
Dr. Philip Elledge completed his undergraduate studies at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1976 with a Bachelors of Science in biology. He then received a Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1979. Dr. Elledge served as student government president of both his junior and senior classes at the University’s College of Dental Medicine. Additionally, he was instrumental in establishing the Student Academic Honor System and served as the institutions first Student Honor Council President. Dr. Elledge completed his surgical residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 1986.
A highly decorated retired U.S. Army officer, Dr. Elledge has provided exceptional service in all areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery. As an infantry officer, Dr. Elledge served two combat tours during the Vietnam War before beginning his surgical career. As an Army oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Elledge served as Chief of OMS at the 34th Army General Hospital in Augsburg, FRG and as Mentor in OMS for the advanced educational two year dental residency program at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Additionally, Dr. Elledge was Deputy Commander for Clinical Services (Chief of Professional Staff) for the 5th Mash during the first gulf war and commanded the Forward Surgical Element, 5th Mash, 44th Medical Brigade during that conflict. Dr. Elledge retired from the active military in 1994 following twenty-six years of service.
Dr. Elledge is active in numerous professional organizations including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Alabama Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Eighth District Dental Society of Alabama and the Huntsville Madison County Dental Society. Dr. Elledge is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Elledge resides in Huntsville, Alabama with his wife, Jimmie Sue. They have two children and six grandchildren, with number seven on the way. Dr. Elledge’s hobbies include hunting and fishing. He is active in church outreach ministry and is also active in medical missions, especially to Kenya, Africa where he both leads and serves on medical team outreach missions. Dr. Elledge is dedicated to serving the patients and families of Huntsville and Madison County, both as a private clinician and as a member of the Huntsville Hospital Medical Staff.
